“I can call at seven in the morning and say I need something right now and Colleen can be in an airport and say, ‘Okay, what do you need? Let’s figure it out.’”
Starting from the ground up, Jayme Branson started Granite Technology Solutions in 2002 with the mission to help business owners by providing ID support, internet connectivity, workstation support, and cyber security, among many others. They also offer cabling, voice, and carrier services, working with businesses of all types and sizes.
Too Many Questions
Like many other business owners or early-stage startups, he had more questions than answers. These questions spanned from anything from a growth standpoint to operational decisions to organizational inconsistencies.
Even today, resources to answer those questions are thin and great people are hard to find.
Growth with Backing
Jayme met Cascadia CEO Colleen Rudio shortly after he started the business, looking for just some general advice. For many years, Colleen has helped with a variety of tasks as the company grew from a one-person company to over 4-5.
In 2019 and 2021, Cascadia also assisted Granite with two acquisitions, handling all of the details.
Libby Brunell took over after Colleen and helped to document and create processes, as well as working with Granite’s management team and supervisors to help each person improve in their role.
To this day, Jayme still works with Cascadia for their HR, payroll, and operational services, something Jayme still relies on as the business continues to grow.
The 5 Pillars
Jayme with Granite Technology Solutions is a great example of our P5 CoreOps: Purpose, Product, Process, People, and Profit. Especially for early-stage companies, all of these factors play a large role individually, but also together as a group. If one falters, another may follow suit.
With professional guidance and structured support along the journey, those pillars can work together more effectively, allowing growth to happen without sacrificing stability. In Jayme’s case, strengthening alignment across all five areas helped create a more sustainable foundation for moving the business forward and making meaningful connections in the process.
