“Friday we were laid off and on Monday we started a new business.”
That sentence has become an origin story for AXIOM IT Solutions. Marc Dousset started AXIOM IT Solutions in 2001 with four other partners. AXIOM is a custom software solutions company that builds web applications to bridge the gap of what commercial software solutions often don’t meet.
From the beginning, the emphasis was not simply on writing code, but on understanding business problems deeply enough to build tools that actually fit how organizations operate.
The Process Gap
By 2024, after more than two decades in operation, AXIOM IT Solutions faced a practical internal challenge that many growing service-based companies eventually encountered: the need for more structured and reliable bookkeeping support.
AXIOM needed a bookkeeping approach that could bring greater structure and dependability to its financial operations, while still remaining flexible enough to reflect the realities of a custom software business.
Maintaining Connections is Key
Marc had already been in contact with Cascadia through CEO Colleen Rudio, so they reconnected at the end of 2024 for bookkeeping support.
Since then, we’ve partnered closely with AXIOM to bring structure and clarity to their financials, supporting their bookkeeping and payroll processes so their team can stay focused on what they do best: building innovative software solutions for their clients. Chris Burt, Amanda Gunter, and Rennae Miller all worked with the company to provide this support.
Regaining Focus
Like many business owners, Marc Dousset didn’t build AXIOM IT Solutions because of a passion for bookkeeping and financial management. His focus has always been on software development.
By bringing in dedicated bookkeeping support, AXIOM was able to shift time and attention back to what it does best. Financial processes became more structured and reliable, while leadership regained the capability to focus on product development, client work, and long-term strategy.
Today, Marc is able to concentrate fully on leading AXIOM’s technical direction and client solutions, while the operational side of bookkeeping is handled by a team of professionals that ensure consistency and accuracy.
